Sinopsis:
Kisah bermula pada 1981. Kala itu, pasangan Ed (Patrick Wilson) dan Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) diminta untuk mendampingi prosesi eksorsis terhadap seorang anak kecil bernama David Glatzel (Julian Hilliard).
David diketahui mengalami serangkaian tanda diincar makhluk gaib setelah ia dan keluarganya pindah ke sebuah rumah baru. Bahkan makhluk jahat yang mengincar David mampu membuat bocah itu melakukan penyerangan kepada orang tuanya.
Ketika prosesi eksorsis telah disetujui oleh Vatikan dan seorang pastur diminta melakukan pengusiran, setan yang dihadapi oleh pasangan demonolog ini rupanya jauh lebih kuat. Proses eksorsis berjalan kacau. Poltergeist kencang melanda hingga keselamatan Ed dan Lorraine pun terancam.
